About.com Adoption pages - many useful links Adopt America Network - a special needs adoption web site Adopted Child - a web site maintained by Lois Melina, a well known author and speaker on adoption. Adoption: A Family Choice - a site run by a mother of 26 adopted children AdoptioNetwork - calls itself a volunteer-operated information resource for the adoption community. Adoptinfo - a site maintained by the Children, Youth, and Family Consortium of the University of Minnesota; the web site says that it is "a collection of information, research, opinion and policy documents related to adoption and issues facing adoptive families" adopting.com - a very extensive site run by a single adoptive mother; a site that contains many links to other sites. adopting.org - another large site that calls itself "your friendly community adoption site": for those considering adoption, in the process and after completion. Adoption 2002 - a site maintained by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services; offers information on President Clinton's memorandum to increase the number of children adopted by the year 2002 and information on adoption benefits, etc. Adoption.com - a large site covering many aspects of adoption. A ListServe can be thought of as an ongoing discussion among members who share some strong commonality, such as they are in the process of adopting or are adopting from the same specific country. When a message is posted it is automatically distributed to all the other members. When someone replies, the reply goes to all the members. Therefore, everyone has the chance to hear everyone else's experiences. The ListServe is private so only members have access to the postings and discussion. ListServes are free of charge. Southern Tier Adoptive Families has its very own ListServe! Typical posts include announcements of upcoming events, dates and times of adoption related television shows, questions about local adoption resources, and a weekly electronic newsletter with links to national and international adoption sites.
